Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy the switch too?
Only for push button plates. Our push button switch is sold separately and pairs with either the Century or Futura push button wall plate. For toggle and open plates, your existing switches work perfectly — you just need the plate.
Will these fit my existing electrical box?
Yes. All Wallware plates use standard US single-gang sizing and fit any standard electrical box. We also offer double-gang, triple-gang, and four-gang configurations for multi-switch setups.
What's the difference between Century and Futura?
Century is our traditional line with classic beveled edges and timeless detailing. Futura is our modern line with clean, flat edges and minimal profiles. Both are machined from solid brass and available in the same finishes — with the addition of Coal Black Brass, which is exclusive to Futura.
How do I know which plate type I need?
Toggle plates fit the classic up-down flip switches. Open plates fit wide paddle (decora/rocker) switches. Push button plates fit our proprietary push button switches. If you're not sure, check the shape of your existing switch — a narrow toggle or a wide rectangular paddle.
What finish should I choose?
Polished Brass is warm, reflective, and classic. Satin Nickel is cool and understated. Satin Brass is warm with a soft matte texture. Coal Black Brass is bold and modern — available in our Futura line only. All finishes are applied to solid brass, not plated over plastic.
